In October, the Crime Commission holds its signature event: The Crime Commission Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon. Business leaders, law enforcement executives and community leaders come together for an afternoon of fellowship and recognition. Four prestigious awards are presented at this popular event that has grown to an audience of more than 600 distinguished guests.

The Ilus Davis Award is presented to an individual or business that has displayed an extensive willingness to support law enforcement and justice agencies. Ike Davis was a civic leader of extraordinary foresight, member and leader of the Crime Commission, and helped found our Crime Stoppers program. He believed the business community could, and should, help police and justice agencies make our cities safer, more secure places to live, do business, and visit.

The Alvin Brooks Award is presented to an outstanding community leader who is a model community activist and outstanding individual constantly striving to make Kansas City a better place to live, do business, and visit.

The Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year Award is presented to an outstanding police officer with an exemplary work history and ongoing awareness of problems facing our community..

The Clarence M. Kelley Award is also presented at the Annual Luncheon each year by the Kansas City Chapter of ASIS International in conjuction with the Crime Commission. The award is presented to a Criminal Justice Executive in the Kansas City metropolitan area that is an excellent administrator, proactive in their approach and dedicated to improving the criminal justice system..
