The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission is a non-profit citizen's organization supported by contributions. The Board of Directors consists of volunteer business and civic leaders from the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is the parent organization for the Crime Stoppers 474-TIPS Hotline Program where anonymous tips solve over 1,000 felony cases each year, the Metropolitan Community Service Program which has about 5,000 persons performing work for our community instead of serving time in already overcrowded jails at taxpayer's expense, and the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE), which serves families of law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel in the Kansas City metropolitan area who have lost their life while protecting our community and our citizens.
The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission also promotes CEASEFIRE, a campaign aimed at educating others that it is illegal for convicted felons to possess a firearm and that, if caught, a swift and certain punishment will be enforced.
